Pastor’s Note
Dear Members and Friends of Montville Reformed Church,
Grace and peace to you in the name of our risen Lord Jesus Christ.
As the long journey of Lent draws us toward its joyful culmination, we find ourselves once again standing at the threshold of the holiest days of the Christian year. Holy Week invites us to walk slowly and prayerfully with Jesus, through the upper room, to the cross, and finally to the empty tomb. It is a journey marked by love poured out, sin forgiven, death defeated, and hope reborn.
Easter does not rush past suffering; it moves through it. On Maundy Thursday we remember the night Jesus knelt to wash his disciples’ feet and gave us the gift of his Supper, a meal of grace that still nourishes us. On Good Friday we gather in solemn reflection and allow the shadows to fall as we remember Christ’s sacrifice for us. On Easter morning we come in the early light to proclaim the good news that changes everything: He is not here; he has risen.
In a world that often feels uncertain and weary, the resurrection of Jesus Christ speaks a steady and unshakable word of hope. Sin does not have the last word. Suffering does not have the last word. Death itself does not have the last word. Because Christ is risen, we live as people of hope, hope for forgiveness, hope for renewal, hope for new beginnings, and hope that stretches even beyond the grave. However this season finds you, deeply rooted here or quietly carrying faith in your own way, I hope you will consider making the most of Holy Week and Easter morning.
May the hope of the risen Christ fill your home and your heart this Easter season. I look forward to celebrating together.
With joy in the Risen Lord,
Pastor Tom Henion Jr.
